Statistics prove that most crimes against property, especially robberies of homes and cars, are committed by drug addicts looking for money for their next purchase. I understand that a person’s home and vehicle often feel violated when stolen from; I will reduce these crimes. Portage County residents deserve a safe, secure home and vehicle.
Though most of the opiates are coming from outside the county, Portage residents are being affected. While we’ll continue to shut down any labs in our borders, we are committed to stopping the flow of optiates into our county.
In my twenty-six years as a Ohio State Highway Patrolman, I stopped many criminals intent on bringing drugs in via interstate. I know what to look for, and our staff will be on the highways and streets every day, using best police practices to stop the flow.
These drugs are often the gateway to many other crime, including theft and assault. We must confront these issues at the source: drugs being brought into Portage County.
Fraudsters are getting increasingly bold and threatening with phone scams, demanding credit card numbers. They will even impersonate law enforcement. This must stop, and I will work with government and industry to protect Portage County citizens from this fraud, including the most vulnerable: senior citizens.
There are regional, state, and federal grant monies available for all of the issues listed above, and more.
I will find and win those grants, at no extra cost to taxpayers.
